Bringing a baby into this world includes a very long To-Do list. The months of prepping and planning before this new life arrives are extremely busy. There is so much to do and yet so little time. The race to beat the clock and as your body morphs into a ticking time bomb, your day to day routine may be jam packed with events and tasks. Of all these duties, errands and events that occurred during my pregnancies, there is one and only ONE thing I wish I had done differently while pregnant.
It’s not a new routine, a fitness regimen or eating plan. It’s nothing fancy or expensive. The one thing I should have done differently is something obtainable and simple for any preggers woman out there. Now, how would you like to make your pregnancy really worth while? Why not get everything out of it that you can while you can. In only nine months, it’s over and you will not have that time back.
ONE Big Thing While Pregnant
Looking back on my pregnancies there are a few things I wish I had went about differently, but this one tops them all. The One thing I wish I had done differently while pregnant was take MORE PICTURES. Yes, I have my maternity photo shoot. Those images are something I’ll treasure for the rest of my days. However, I have a serious lack of pictures featuring myself in everyday life while pregnant. I wish I had more, much more!
It’s my own fault, I know. My grouchy, pregnant butt would moan, “Don’t take my picture. I don’t look good today.” or “I don’t have any mascara on.” or “I don’t feel pretty today.” As I flip through my photo album (Yes, I develop my pictures for an album. It’s still a thing) I discover there is only a measly two or three pictures of me with my baby belly in everyday life.
In retrospect I wish I had requested that someone take a snap shot of me with my son at the park or while we were out to eat at a restaurant. I’m not a big selfie person. Therefore, there is a shortage of pictures with me in general seeing that I am the one behind the camera most of the time. For my pregnancies, this was the case as well. Don’t let this be you!
Picture Preggers
Hindsight is 20/20, and I find myself saddened by the lack of images of my growing tummy. That was my baby’s home for nine months. That tummy gave them all the warmth, nutrients, safety and love they needed until they were welcomed into this world. Now, I turn the pages of my albums wondering what that tummy that held my precious child even looked like.
I wish I had more images to show my children when they are grown. These pictures would show them where they were nestled during that dear time and to have as a memory for myself. I long for the images my pregnant self doing the laundry, painting the nursery, picking out clothes and baking. Sigh, if only there were a way to turn back time.
If there was one thing I could do differently, it would be to take MORE PICTURES! Those nine months will fly by. Grab your spouse, friend or family member and ask them to snap a picture of you while you vacuum, eat a hamburger or do a back flip (just kidding). Take pictures even if you feel blah, even if you don’t feel like it or even if you’re not as put together as you would like to be. Keep those pictures as a memory of your baby’s home before they came home. You won’t regret it!
