1. Dress Up For Dinner
It sounds kind of silly, but honestly, when is that last time you put on that gown? A wedding, event, ball? A fun and unique way to lighten up the evening is a fancy dinner party with you the family. Pull out the cute blazers or collared shirts and bow tie for the boys. Do your hair and slip on that sequin gown that hasn’t seen the light of day since your prom.
Make the evening extra special with some Flameless Candles in the center of the table and fold cloth napkins in an eye pleasing manner. Here is a tutorial on an easy napkin fold. Then top it off with the fancy champagne flutes you never use. Fill the kids with sprite or ginger ale!
2. Play Library
Ok, so we all know there is a plethora of books in the house. This is an opportunity to read them. However, this is a fun way to get the kids to read. One of our favorite fun activities for kids at home is to play Library.
I mean, the get really into it. Like up the books, make pretend Library cards and if your feeling up to it and the kids are old enough, try to throw in a Dewey decimal system lesson.
3. Match Box Car Course
Many of us parents of boys have a collection of match box or Hot Wheels cars stuffed in a drawer or tote. Yes, they do make a great deal of sets and courses. However, this is an opportunity to get creative and make your own. Grab some shoe boxes, blocks, paper towel roll tubes and whatever else you can find to make a course across the living room.
4. Obstacle Course
This creative activity at home can be as simple or as complex as you wish. Great for all ages and can be adjusted in difficulty for any age. Create a string course in a room where you cannot touch the strings. Make a relay to get through the entire course. For toddlers, create color themes and go on a hunt for colors. 5. Play Vet
Even if you do not have pets, you can create a pretend Vet clinic. Make charts for the “patients” and create scenarios with either your pets or stuffed animals. HERE is a link to FREE printable Vet chart
6. Movie Themed Dinners
This is a fun one. Pick a favorite movie and plan dinner around it. Make a cute menu and set the scene. For example, Lady and the Tramp would be a great one for spaghetti Dinner. Spongebob Square-pants is a great one for Burgers!
7. HAVE FUN
